Character: Kor-Tur (Ciclops)

Posted in Fichas de Personagens / Character's Sheets, Notícias / News with tags , , , , on 17/12/2011 by leonardoandrade

The cyclops are not natural souls of Shiang’s Lands, are beings from another world more advanced moral stage who have migrated for unknown reasons. The existence of cyclops was proven by apes and tirese a little more than a century, and since then several sightings of these strange creatures have been noted in the Shiang’s Lands.

Kor-Tur

Some of the cyclops present in the Shiang’s Lands, its mission is to map all areas of the planet. In his address, a massive stone temple built in the Cold Hillsides, the Cyclops study the stars and send some of their peers around the globe to investigate all the territorial space of the scenario. The findings of cyclops, are being recorded on the stones of the temple itself.

Kor-Tur is one of the cyclops who were sent to map the largest continent and has been fulfilling its mission for nearly eight decades. Although contact with apes and tirese take them out early in their missions, Kor-Tur chose to map the entire continent south of the great in the first two decades. Contact with primitive beings like insects and giant reptiles, birds and other nocturnal predators, has made the cyclops magical abilities to develop their own defense.

Half a century ago, Kor-Tur came into contact with apes and tirese, and has been quietly observing their culture. In one of the rare contacts with tirese, Kor-Tur learned of the existence of a bell-portal in possession of Shadows. Kor-Tur tried to negotiate with the shadows, vain, possession of magic item, but the Shadows wanted to trick the cyclops. The cave was the basis of Shadows in the city, was swallowed by the earth, a victim of the magic of Kor-Tur. After the disaster, Kor-Tur used again to find the magic bell-portal, with an extreme effort that almost cost him his life. Kor-Tur got possession of the bell, and there were no other survivors.

The sino-portal that Kor-Tur obtained, was able to open portals between different localities of the same dimension as well as portals to other dimensions. Although some magic portals cyclops know, their use is prohibitive. The cyclops were amazed at the audacity of their creators, for magical portals have harmful consequences. Also known process of charming items, but the cyclops do not realize it because they consider the sinful act (for creating an artifact, a lot of mana in the world is consumed, not being replaced), but in the case of sino-portal, it has was conceived. With the help of several cyclops, the operation of the magical artifact was discovered and first used by Kor-Tur to map the earth dimension.

With the use of the bell-portal, Kor-Tur met a few regions that beings could witness and return alive to tell. Met most of the fauna and flora of the world he inhabits, and brought knowledge to the cyclops write to its powerful stone walls. The contact device in the form of musical instrument, sharpened the musical sensibility of Kor-Tur. Each time you use your device, Kor-Tur had to play a sequence of notes and melodies echoed and altered in his rare dreams. Kor-Tur believed that some songs could be played to reach unknown regions of the world.

Even against the advice of his peers, one day Kor-Tur played a new melody in his bell-portal.

Upon exiting the portal opened by the magic of the artifact, the explorer encountered flora and fauna close to some remote areas of great apes in the forest. Despite the similarities, there was something really strange in that locality. Fearful, Kor-Tur thought of returning to his home, but was surprised by a mental strength that had not known before. Due to its expanding intelligence, Kor-Tur got back from playing the melody, but not before having his mind read by an entity of colossal power.

Vishir felt Dargon took note of Kor-Tur and the cyclops beyond all the information about the cultures of humanoids who wanted to destroy. The information of greatest importance was the existence of a couple of tires rare coat through the magic of a bell-portal could open a passage for him, Dargon, could return to the earth dimension.

Few hours after contact with Vishir, Kor-Tur feared for the safety of the bell-portal when a  four-armed monster and Dargon’s worshiper stormed the temple of the cyclops. Kor-Tur then decided to deliver the bell-portal to a hero tires, and warned that the young tires of rare coat that was under their protection, could be at risk of life.

Playing with the Emperor Shiang in RPG and Wargame

Posted in Elementos de Cenário / Scenario's Elements, Miniaturas / Miniatures, Regras / Rules with tags , , , on 15/12/2011 by leonardoandrade

The Emperor Shiang is a character who appeared in the third major campaign RPG environment in this scenario. The climate of the previous games of the coming of the Emperor were dark, and at the end of the first and second major campaigns, the feeling was next to “When will the tirese be able to oppose the kings Shadows?” (see scientific paper describing the creative process of the Shiang’s Land). At the end of the second campaign, a player said that his character was praying that the existence helped to take them out against the Shadows. Previously, in the literary history of the world (which goes to the year 700), the faith of the tirese had been considered to wake out of ‘sleep divine’ Thunder-God’s character. In a way, it was necessary to create a gameplay scenario to add to the faith of the characters.

Despite the author’s knowledge at the time various scenarios and game mechanics, there were few RPGs that did influence the faith of the characters in the game (found among the most relevant are cited the GURPS Voodoo, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, Hunters Hunted – Supplement for Vampire: The Masquerade, Elric and RPG Dragon Lords of Menilboné). It was then sought in works of literature that could guide you to systematize the concepts of faith. The work of greatest importance, both for the consideration of faith and the creation of worlds, was ‘Genese’ by Allan Kardec. The book, released in France in 1868, says the scientific view of his time, the fundamental laws which governing the creation, and is considered a basic work-Spiritualism. For all Game Masters who like to create worlds and scenarios, this reading is recommended.

The literature brought the description of the operation of faith, but within the game mechanics, the rules for determining the action of god and divinity have been tested in more than six campaigns to achieve consolidation.

Playing with god and deities in RPG

Excerpted from the RPG Shiang’s Land (page 153 – portuguese version) and Netbook RPG Shinag’s Land (page 144 – portuguese version)

Gods and Deities are non-player characters (or NPCs), and are controlled in secret by the Game Master. Before starting a campaign, it is important to the Game Master ascertain their beliefs of the characters they are playing (this includes non-player characters and players). For characters who have some belief, an attribute must be marked secret, named Aura, with the value zero. Remember that the player, if your character has a belief, he must declare every day of playing time, at which moment made his prayers, contemplative activities or other type of worship. If a character performs this activity with frequency, it gains a point of Aura, but allowed to practice (more than 2 days) it loses a point. The prayer points are not cumulative.

The Game Master must analyze the behavior of characters who have beliefs, and increase or decrease their points of Aura according to their interpretation. Situations as a manifestation of sincere faith to help anyone in need, make an act of charity, to solve a problem that plagued their peers, are examples of attitudes that increase the points of Aura. Situations such as dishonesty, humiliation of someone or an unnecessary death are examples of attitudes that diminish the points of Aura. In the case of unnecessary killing at least three points of Aura are diminished.

According to the unfolding of the plot, the Game Master can make some god or deitie help a character, since he has at least 6 points and Aura intervention is plausible. If help lead to a success, the character is half (up from their points of Aura). If help lead to failure, the character gets the lower half of their points of Aura, after the intervention.

Gods and deities in the dimension of Eternal Souls have the power Astral Projection, allowing them to travel to the terrestrial dimension while his real body is in that dimension. Another power of the gods and deities often is Telepathy, used to pass messages to their devotees (as they move with your body the astral dimension have terrestrial). Some gods and deities have the power Grant Power, which is applied to any of the powers he possesses. On some occasions, gods and feities may grant powers to his devotees (who must have 12 or more points of Aura, for the purposes of intervention, and get only a quarter of its initial points Aura).

Playing with Emperor Shiang in RPG

Within RPG, the character Shiang takes the position of mentor, and only appears to players on very rare occasions. Much more common is to meet with some of his devotees to their services.

Despite having one of its essence in the Ethernal Souls dimension, that part of Shiang is a lesser god, compared with the other inhabitants of that dimension. Although a lesser god, he is able to hear one of his most sincere devotees (Aura greater than 11) and, if possible, try to send help through an ally (a fighter from Tiger Claw, to a Divine Disciple). Each copy of the character Shiang on terrestrial dimension is formed with 200 to 550 Points of Creation, all of which have magical ability. Among its forms ever seen, as there is a warrior who fought alongside the Divine Disciples and the Summit against the Kings Shadow, another copy of the Emperor is a perfect spy, which mixes magic and rogue skills to be missed, there is a copy directed to the magical arts, which lies in Dwelling-place Address in terrestrial dimension, a copy of a Samaritan Shiang is hidden among the population, making charity and healing. If Shiang lost one of its copies in the terrestrial dimension, the size of the copy of the eternal soul is capable of creating a new, whose number of points depends on the faith of the people and take away the need of the Emperor (the time to generate a copy is in average of 6 months, but may vary by score (200 points – 5 months, 1 year 550 points). in special cases, Shiang can meet a sincere request of a devotee, sending one of its copies in the terrestrial dimension, to judge it does not run any risk, even if the enemy is an inhabitant of the Darkness or Affliction dimension).

Playing with Emperor Shiang in Wargame

Within Wargem only the character Shiang Warrior is set in the character sheet, and he is the only character with tires leadership level 3. The score of the character is equivalent to a small army (151 points), and its presence on the board alongside forces of the empire increases the bonus characters (including the other leaders), making it a studied balance of forces so that their presence not cause a major imbalance in the forces involved in combat.

Shiang Warrior counts as Lethal Blade and Tiger Claw, and can not be surprised by surprise attack, his defense being achieved only by blows of enemies accumulate bonus.

Ficha de Personagem: Kwao Zao, o Jardineiro de Shiang

Posted in Fichas de Personagens / Character's Sheets, Notícias / News on 22/11/2011 by leonardoandrade
